About
RE-FFFFOUND!
A preservation project that rescues, archives, and revives FFFFOUND! — the invitation-only image-bookmarking site that shaped a generation of designers before it went dark in 2017.
The site we lost
FFFFOUND! (2007–2017) was created and run by the Tokyo studio THA LTD. — Yosuke Abe, Keita Kitamura, Taro Hanamura, founded by Yugo Nakamura. It was invite-only and fiercely curated: a quiet, high-signal feed of images that designers “found” across the web. When it shut down it left no export tool and had long blocked web archivers — so a decade of collective taste was at risk of vanishing with no public archive.
Saving the pieces
Before the shutdown, a scrape by Álvaro Trapote captured what it could, and Omar Careaga compiled the surviving images into an are.na channel. RE-FFFFOUND! preserves that channel — 9,872 images — bit for bit: full-resolution originals, each fingerprinted with a SHA-256 checksum so the archive is verifiable and tamper-evident.
What we’re building
- Preserve — pinned to IPFS, content-addressed and permanent.
- Anchor — minted on Hedera as an NFT collection, giving the archive provenance and an owner community.
- Revive — a daily curated drop, and over time a community that comments on images, corrects metadata, and crowdsources the original artists FFFFOUND! never credited.
No rights claimed
Archival project — no rights claimed. RE-FFFFOUND! preserves images salvaged from FFFFOUND!; original creators are unknown and unattributed. Nothing here asserts authorship, copyright, or ownership of any underlying image.
Who’s behind it
RE-FFFFOUND! is an archival initiative by pleasedontstare, founded by Houdini.
